EMS-APT
Designed specifically for APARTMENTS this
mps. The small dome of the motion detector protrudes through the front panel (if required extra motion detectors can be mounted remotely). An LCD display shows the temperature, the mode (Heat, A/C, Vacant)… The user is limited in the amount of override s/he requests (i.e. +3C max. in the heat mode). Timers ensure that when motion is not detected, end user requested overrides are removed and eventually the pre-programmed set back temperature is reached after a maximum of 4 hours.
In the A/C mode, after 18 hours of no occupancy, the A/C is completely turned off (maximizing energy savings during weekends and vacation time). All the parameters (set back temperature, amount of override permitted… can be re-programmed via any computer with an RS232 port.
APPLICATIONS: Apartments, non-profit housing, Social Housing, rental homes…

Programmable time delays ensure that these cycles are not turned on and off by short periods of darkness/light. An LCD display shows the temperature, the mode (Heat, A/C, Auto)… The user is limited in the amount of override s/he requests (i.e. +3C max. in the heat mode). All important parameters are programmable via any computer with an RS232 port.

EMS-S296
Designed specifically for locations heated with BASEBOARD HEATERS and where occupancy can be predicted, i.e. classrooms, offices. In order to further enhance energy savings the baseboard heaters are controlled in two banks. The preheat starts at 50% of total heat capacity and is monitored in real time. Except with very low outside temperatures in rooms with very poor insulation, the EMS-S296 can pre-heat the room with only 50% of available heat. When the rooms are occupied the heating is also easily achieved on 50% or less of total available kW. These features reduce peak kW demand by 50% on top of 36% energy savings. This model also incorporates a slide switch enabling the user to override the pre-set temperature by +/- 1 or 2C.
Depending on options this
APPLICATIONS: offices, classrooms, stores… any premises where occupancy is usually predictable and the heating system is baseboard or on/off type of heating system (for modulating type of heat or damper see EMS-SS99).

EMS-WT95
Controls WATER (solenoid valve, mostly for urinals) from start time to stop time (or occupancy) on a timed basis / occupancy basis.
During vacation / weekends: ensures at least one flush per day to compensate for evaporation.
Depending on options this
APPLICATION: urinals and other places where water needs to be controlled.

EMS-TIMER
This
It has 2 programmable on/off schedule times every day, plus a “working day schedule”. All of the above is automatically overridden in real time via a motion detector.
APPLICATIONS: replaces any other programmable timer (which does not have the advantage of being pre-programmed for the next 20 years) in offices, classrooms, stores…

POWER INTERFACE PANEL (Pow-Int)
The POWER INTERFACE PANEL is a 6.5” x 10” galvanized metal enclosure (gauge 18) with a satin coat finish. For easy “recessed” mounting, the cover (baked enamel beige) is ¾” wider than the enclosure (8” x 12”).
The Pow-Int panel includes a 120 to 24v AC transformer (other voltages optional), and 2 “Power Relays” which can control 2 x 5KW banks of baseboard heaters (2 x 25 Amp. @ 240v). Up to 6 Power relays (Pow-Rel) can be mounted in the Power Interface Panel.

Pow-Rel:
Additional RELAYS (Pow-Rel) for the Power Interface (maximum load of 25 Amp.): up to a maximum of 6 relays per panel can be added to interface the
Easily snaps in a 2 ¾” “Curtis” track.
Can be used for other applications (relay UL/CSA certified for 25 Amp. @240v).

Information such as Time, Ambient Temperature, Heat (stage-1, stage-2), Fan, A/C…are written to a DOS text file once every minute, and every day the EMS creates a new file. Average computer storage needed is about 100K of hard drive per day. One hundred (100) days of continuous monitoring uses only 10 Mb of hard disk drive space, therefore an old laptop can easily be used for this task.
Files are easily imported to any spreadsheet program (i.e. Excel) to generate curves. Sums and averages can also easily be generated to show for example how long Heat was turned on (i.e. to calculate cost, savings…) or what is the average % occupancy during the week...
Data can be used for studies, projects and consulting on energy management.
