Misc. Comments

"There was above average savings of 33% in those apartments where building owners pay for the utility…"

Nova Scotia Power,

Pilot Project Results: using Log-One's EMS-APT - June 1999

“Following a comparison of the energy cost in Portables and Port-a-Pak with and without EMS Controls, indications are that substantial savings will be realized in the buildings with units.  In addition we are achieving more consistent temperature conditions.  As a result of this and in consultation with local Hydro Companies and independent Engineers, we plan to implement a program to install EMS Controllers in the majority of our Portables.  We estimate that this initiative will have a payback in less than four years”.

Mr. Douglas A. Duncombe,

Dufferin-Peel School Board, June, 1996

“…37.6% reduction in energy cost… payback of under 2 years… generate positive cash flow from energy savings for many years to come…”

The Dufferin-Peel School Board.

"Payback is estimated within 3 years … Estimated savings is $120,000 to $150,000 in 1999…"

Groundheat Systems

Energy management consultant for Ontario Hydro and The Tandem Group

“In 1998, Ontario Hydro conducted a pilot project in which over 1000 EMS-APT were installed in multi residential towers (at Forest Laneway – Toronto).  The retrofit also included replacing the existing PTAC units with new heat pump units.  The annual energy bill for Forest Laneway was approximately 1.4 Million of which heating was estimated at $750,000.00.  With the Energy Management retrofit the savings were just below $300,000.00 (close to 40% savings). A large part of these savings is directly attributed to the EMS-APT”.

                        Mr. Bob McKellar,

Ontario Hydro Services Company, October 1999

“This is to certify that we have tested 2 EMS-SS95 at St. Joseph’s H.S. in Barrie since 1995.  In 1996 we further installed 16(sixteen) EMS-ST95 as well as 3 (three) EMS-SS95.

Furthermore, Log-One Ltd. has replaced the OCI controller by their EMS-ETS at Patrick Fogarty S.S in Orillia.  For a period of 2 years, in conjunction with the manufacturer, we unsuccessfully tried to make the OC1 work before switching to the Log-One controller.  The very next day the Teacher, Custodian and Principal were appreciative of the difference.  Log-One also installed a data logger on this ETS installation which only confirmed the energy savings and comfort level they claimed.

All of our Log-One Energy Management Systems (EMS are working in a very satisfactory manner, the energy savings are as claimed, and we are proceeding with a 50% retrofit of all our portable installations”.

                        Steven Adams,

Simcoe County Roman Catholic Separate School Board June, 1997.

“He told me that they began installing 500 units in January 2001.  They decided to make this initial purchase based on the results achieved by the Durham School Board who had installed Log-One’s thermostats.  In addition to the thermostat they installed a motion sensor in the bedrooms and hall of each unit.  They used a pre-programmed range of a maximum of 24 degrees which would drop ½ degree every 1/2 hours down to 21 degrees while there is no motion detected.”

                        John Orzoli,

Peel Living, May 2001, as reported to Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association.

“They installed 1008 units May 1998.  The thermostats were pre-programmed to a maximum of 21 degrees, with some exceptions, and a minimum of 18 degrees.  It was easy to change the pre-programming of settings.  She said that they made tremendous savings.  She was very pleased with the units and the company”.

                        Evelyn Visconti,

Tandem Property Management Inc., May 2001,

as reported to Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association.

“Nova Scotia Power put them in 2 non-profits in the fall of 1999.  They are quite happy with the results since they achieved 33% savings in this pilot project.  She said that communication with the tenants throughout the process is vital”.

Joan McDougall, Nova Scotia Power, May 2001,

as reported to Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association.
